Riga airport expects an increase in the number of passengers

On 27 March, the summer flight schedule will come into force at Riga International Airport. It is planned that three new airlines will start working at the airport. airBaltic plans to open new destinations and restore several old routes that remained closed during winter.

With that, passengers should arrive at the airport early in order to settle or formalities.

Riga airport expects an increase in the number of passengers during the active season. Most of the flights will be serviced in morning hours. The airport has already serviced 12% more passengers in Q1 in comparison with the same period of last year. This is why passengers should keep in mind that they will have to spend more time to settle formalities (customs security check, etc.) at the airport. It is recommended that all passengers arrive at the airport at least two hours before their flight.

Several new airlines will start working at Riga airport this summer season. Yanair airline will start servicing flights from Kyiv on 20 May. The airline plans to carry out seven flights a week. Spanish Vueling airline (Barcelona-Riga-Barcelona) will send its first flight to Riga on 25 June. Greek Aegean airlines (Athens-Riga-Athens) will begin servicing flights once a week starting with 26 June.

On 28 May, airBaltic will start servicing flights to the airport of Iceland’s capital Reykjavik. In cooperation with Tez Tour, airBaltic will start sending flights to Rimini, Italy, in June.

Wizz Air plans to start sending flights from Riga to Tel Aviv on 20 June. The airline plans to service flights twice a week.

During the summer season, passengers will be able to travel to 79 destinations provided by 21 airlines at Riga International Airport: airBaltic, Aeroflot, Aegean airlines, Belavia, Ellinair, Finnair, FlyEgypt, LOT, Lufthansa, Norwegian, Onur Air, Ryanair, SAS, SmartLynx Airlines, Turkish airlines, Ukraine International Airlines, Utair, Uzbekistan Airways, Vueling, Wizz Air and Yanair.

A reminded that on 27 March Latvia will transition to daylight saving time: clocks will be switched one hour forward. In order to avoid misunderstanding and inconveniences, passengers are advised to check their departure times and arrive at the airport at least two hours in advance. Changes to flight times can be looked up at www.riga-airport.com or by calling the information service by dialling 1817.
