NOVOSIBIRSK (Russia), Jan 30 - In Kontinental Ice Hockey League (KHL) action on Wednesday, Latvian ice hockey club Riga ''Dinamo'' lost to the Russian club Novosibirsk ''Sibir'' 0:2.
Alexander Kutuzov and Nikita Zaicev scored the goals for ''Sibir'', both in the second period only 30 seconds apart.

This was the seventh loss in a row for the Latvian club, who are already out of playoff contention.

In the KHL's Western Conference standings at the moment, ''Dinamo'' remains in last place with 46 points from 49 matches. Meanwhile, ''Sibir'' is in 7th place in the Eastern Conference with 73 points.

The Latvian club will now go on a two-week calendar break for the Sochi Olympic qualifiers, which will be followed by the season's final three-game home series.

This is the first time in team history ''Dinamo'' has not qualified for the KHL playoffs.

As reported, the ten KHL teams that do not qualify for the playoffs will compete in a special post-season tournament called the Hope Cup, the league has decided.

The post-season tournament will kick off after the KHL season and will be played until end-March.
