Pabriks departs for China and South Korea

 RIGA, Nov 20 (LETA) - Today, on an invitation from Chinese National Defense Minister General Liang Guanglie, Latvian Defense Minister Artis Pabriks (Unity) departed for a visit to China, LETA was informed by the Defense Ministry's representative Daina Ozolina.
Pabriks will be in China until November 26. On November 27-29, the minister will be on a visit to South Korea.
During Pabriks' meetings with Chinese officials, bilateral cooperation in defense and a number of international matters, including security in Afghanistan post-2014, will be discussed.
"China is currently among the world's fastest growing economies and the country's international role in security affairs is increasing accordingly. Therefore China's stance on the latest developments in security is highly important," points out Pabriks.
In South Korea, Pabriks will discuss such matters as the situation in North Korea and the civil involvement in Afghanistan after 2014.
