Polish president calls theater director Alvis Hermanis one of Latvia's symbols

 RIGA, Nov 23 (LETA) - While in Latvia today, Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski said that he sees the well-known Latvian theater director Alvis Hermanis as one of the country's symbols.
Speaking at a joint press conference today with Latvian President Andris Berzins at the House of the Blackheads in Old Town Riga, the Polish president noted the historical importance of this building to Poland.
On March 18, 1921, the House of the Blackheads hosted trilateral talks between Russia, Poland and Ukraine, where the Peace of Riga was agreed upon that ended the Polish-Soviet War.
Answering a question whether he knows any Latvian products, the Polish president mentioned Riga Black Balsam, ''Laima'' chocolates and bread kvass.
He added that there is still work to do to promote Latvian products in Poland.
As reported, Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski and his wife Anna have arrived on a two-day state visit to Latvia today, LETA was informed by the Presidential Press Service.
