As part of European Central Bank’s realized Public Sector Purchase Programme, Latvia’s securities worth EUR 1.958 billion were bought up at the end of July 2018, according to information published by ECB.

Lithuanian securities were bought up in a volume worth EUR 2.898 billion at the end of July, whereas the volume of Estonian securities was EUR 7 million.

Over the course of July, Latvian securities were procured in a volume equal to EUR 41 million, Lithuanian securities were bought in a volume equal to EUR 42 million, and Estonian – minus EUR 58 million, because this month marked the maturity date for part of state securities previously purchased as part of PSPP.

In July, bonds worth a total of EUR 2.093 trillion were procured as part of ECB’s programme at the end of July. This includes bonds worth EUR 25.02 billion in July.

The bond procurement programme was commenced in March 2015 as part of realization of the main euro system – ECB and Eurozone national central banks – goal to maintain medium-term inflation close or below 2% annually. Expanded Asset Purchase Programme initially consisted of three parts – PSPP, Third Covered Bond Purchase Programme and Asset-backed Securities Purchase Programme. However, since 8 June 2016, the programme has also included Corporate Sector Purchase Programme.

The net asset procurement volume in the programme will be EUR 30 billion a month before the end of September 2018. If data still affirms ECB Council’s medium-term inflation perspective, the net monthly asset procurement volume will be reduced to EUR 15 billion from September to the end of December 2018. After that, net procurements will be ceased.
