Elīna Garanča's new album lands in stores

World-famous mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča's latest album "Romantique", released by the "Deutsche Grammophon" classical record label, is now available from shops in Latvia. "Romantique" is a collection of some of the most popular opera arias of all time composed by 19th century classical composers such as Gaetano Donizetti, Camille Saint-Saëns, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Charles Gounod, Hector Berlioz and others, "Mikrofona ieraksti" informs. Elīna Garanča performs the areas together with Filarmonica del Teatro Comunale di Bologna conducted by Yves Abel. At the beginning of October, the new album will also be released in Great Britain, and in the United States at end-October. "Romantique" marks Elīna Garanča's return after a year off following the birth of her daughter, and the album displays a new level of perfection: Elīna Garanča's performance is as compelling as before in the high register, but now with greater versatility, warmth and depth. "Deutsche Grammophon" released Latvian opera star's first solo recording, "Aria Cantilena", in 2007. "Aria Cantilena" offered highlights from some of her celebrated operatic roles accompanied by the Dresden Staatskapelle under Fabio Luisi. The album was released to great critical acclaim and received "Echo" music award.
