Antonenko sings Ismaele in "La Scala" production of "Nabucco"

 Latvia's tenor Aleksandr Antonenko will sing Ismaele in new production of Giuseppe Verdi's "Nabucco" at "La Scala" in Milan this month.

The February 13 performance at "La Scala" will be broadcast live at the "Splendid Palace" cinema.

The cast includes Leo Nucci in the role of Nabucco, as well as Vitalij Kowaljow, Liudmyla Monastyrska, Veronica Simeoni, Ernesto Panariello, Giuseppe Veneziano and Tatyana Ryaguzova.

"Nabucco" takes place in Babylon and Jerusalem in 686 before Christ, during the rule of the despotic Nebuchadnezzar. The opera that Verdi composed in 1842 retells an old Biblical story about the exiled Jews and their struggle for freedom.

The live broadcast will start at 9:15 p.m. Opera running time is three hours and 35 minutes.
