Exhibition dedicated to Rainis to be opened in Pskov

LSM - On September 11 - the 150th birthday of the famous Latvian poet Jānis Rainis - a virtual exhibition, titled Poet with the fate of a traveler and a wanderer will be opened in the Central library of the Russian city of Pskov, reported the Pskov Information Agency.

The exhibition will introduce visitors to the life and oeuvre of the Latvian poet, who spent two years of exile in Pskov from 1897 to 1899. Inhabitants of Pskov will be able to learn about Rainis' stay in Pskov and see his books that are in the library.

During the two years in Pskov, Rainis wrote in a prolific manner, and among his works written there is an article about Alexander Pushkin, who was also sent to exile in this city.
