An exhibition “Jaunums! Fresh Latvian Painting” has opened at the Tartu Art House, Estonia. The exhibition will remain open until December 16th.
The exhibition tries to give a short synopsis of the present situation in the Latvian painting scene for Estonian audience. It cannot be denied that the sensibilities shared by the artists in the two countries are very similar.
The aim of the present exhibition is to map out the various strata in Latvian contemporary painting – different styles, outlooks and artistic values have been incorporated without discrimination to offer the viewer a multifaceted overview.
It includes works from Kaspars Brambergs, Kristaps Ģelzis, Ritums Ivanovs, Vineta Kaulača, Inga Meldere, Andris Vītoliņš and Paula Zariņa.
These seven artists form a combination of well-known stars and up-and-coming talents who represent the many faces of Latvian painting.
