Foreign direct investments in Latvia last year - LVL 540.1 million

 RIGA, March 29 - In 2012, direct foreign investments in Latvia grew at a slower pace than the previous year, according to the Bank of Latvia's annual report for 2012.

In 2012, direct foreign investments in Latvia reached LVL 540.1 million, or 3.5 percent of GDP.

In 2011, direct foreign investments reached 5.1 percent of GDP.

A large proportion of direct foreign investments in 2012 was invested in the financial and insurance sectors - LVL 150.5 million, mostly from Sweden.

LVL 74.2 million was invested in real-estate in 2012, mostly from the Netherlands, Russia and Estonia, while LVL 65.8 million was invested in trade, mostly from Cyprus and Russia.
