Liepaja Port cargo turnover up 29.6% in January

 Liepaja Port handled 593,581 tons of cargo this past January, 29.6 percent more than in January 2012, as the Liepaja Special Economic Zone's public relations specialist Liga Ratniece-Kadege informed LETA.

The port also serviced 137 ships and 3,202 passengers.

Bulk cargo turnover made up 314,400 tons (53 percent of all cargo handled at the port), general cargo - 250,900 tons (42 percent), liquid cargo - 28,200 tons (5 percent).

reported, in 2012, Liepaja Port handled record-high 7,431,500 tons of cargo, 53 percent more than in 2011.
