Freeport of Riga serviced 815,035 passengers in 2012

 RIGA, Jan 9 - The Freeport of Riga serviced a total of 815,035 passengers in 2012, 5 percent more than in 2011, when the port served 776,211 passengers, according to the port's data.

Out of these 815,035 passengers, 83,091 arrived on cruise ships in 2012, 30.8 percent more than in 2011, when the port serviced 63,527 cruise passengers.

At the same time the Freeport of Riga handled 36.05 million tons of cargo in 2012, which is 5.8 percent more than in 2011, according to the port's homepage.

Bulk cargo turnover increased 8.3 percent to 21.62 million tons and accounted for the largest share of the port's cargo.

Liquid cargo turnover rose 2.6 percent to 7.7 million tons.

General cargo turnover grew 1.9 percent to 6.65 million tons.
