Freeport of Ventspils cargo turnover up 7% in 2012

 VENTSPILS, Jan 7- The Freeport of Ventspils handled 30.4 million tons of cargo in 2012, 7 percent more than in 2011, as the port's spokesperson Inga Ievina informed LETA.
The port's cargo turnover exceeded the projected figure by 13 percent last year.
Oil products accounted for the largest share of the port's cargo turnover in 2012. The Freeport of Ventspils handled 16 million tons of oil products (a 11 percent increase) and nearly 8 million tons of coal (a 19 percent increase). The volume of ro-ro cargo reached almost 2 million tons (a slight increase).
The port serviced a record number of ferry and cruise passengers last year - 61,398 persons.
The largest cargo increases among the port's terminals were recorded by "Ventbunkers", "Baltic Coal Terminal" and "Ventspils Nafta terminals".
