Latvia’s retail trade rise in November was more rapid than Europe’s average

In November 2017, retail trade volume in Latvia had increased by 4.8% in comparison with the same month the year before, according to data from Eurostat.

A more rapid retail trade increase in comparison with November 2016 was registered in Romania (+10.9%), Poland (+7.6%) and Malta (+7%). Retail trade turnover in Lithuania was 5% higher than it was in November 2016. Estonia was the only country in which a decline was registered (-1.2%).

Retail trade turnover in EU member states in November, in comparison with the same month of 2016, increased by 2.7%, whereas retail turnover in Eurozone increased 2.8%.

In comparison with October, retail trade volumes in EU and Eurozone grew 1.5% in November.

Retail trade volumes increased in all EU member states for which data is available, except for Estonia, where a decline of 0.2% was registered in November in comparison with October.

The largest increase in this period was noted in Portugal (+3.9%), Slovenia (+2.8%), Germany (+2.3%) and Croatia (+2.1%).

Retail trade in Latvia grew 1% over the course of one month. Increase in Lithuania was 1.2%.

Data is not available for Czech Republic, Ireland, Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Luxembourg and Netherlands.
