Latvia had the fourth most rapid industrial output in EU this June

In June 2017, Latvia experienced the fourth most rapid increase in industrial output among member states of the European Union, according to data published by Eurostat on Monday, 14 August.

Latvia’s industrial production output in June was 7.8% higher when compared with the same month of 2016. Among EU member states for which data is available, a more rapid increase was noted in Estonia (+14.5%), Romania (+11.5%) and Sweden (+8.9%). Industrial output slightly below Latvia’s was noted in Lithuania (+7%), Poland (+6.9%), Slovenia (+6.7%) and Hungary (+6.4%).

In general, industrial output growth has been noted in 21 EU member states for which data is available. Declines were noted in two countries: Malta (-1.3%) and Ireland (-8.1%).

Compared with the previous month, industrial production output growth in June was noted in nine EU member states. A decline was noted in thirteen member states. Spain’s industrial production output remained unchanged in June. The biggest decline in comparison with May was noted in Ireland (-7.5%), Czech Republic (-3.8%) and Malta (-3.2%). Latvia’s industrial output declined 0.4% in this period, Lithuania’s declined 0.7%.

The most rapid increase in comparison with May was noted in Luxembourg (+3.4%). Increase in Estonia, Croatia and Netherlands was 1.2%.

Compared with last year’s June, total industrial output growth in EU member states was 2.9% and 2.6% in Eurozone member states. Industrial production output declined in the EU by 0.5% and 0.6% in Eurozone in June.

Data is not available for Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Cyprus and Slovakia.
