Number of tourists to Riga up 7% in 2017![]() The number of nights spent in Riga has grown 4%, according to data from Riga Tourism Development Bureau compiled by Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia. The majority of tourists staying in Riga’s hotels and other accommodations came from Russia (19.9%), following tourists from Estonia (10.3%), Lithuania (10%), UK (7%), Germany (7%), Norway (5.4%), Sweden (5.4%) and Finland (4.3%). The largest increase of tourists was from RTAB target markets in the first three months of the year was noted from USA (40%), Sweden (20%), France and Russia (14%), Belarus (12%), Estonia and Lithuania (9%). «We actively work on different foreign markets, promoting travel to travellers from different countries. Our neighbours gave us a pleasant surprise this year by travelling more often in the first three months of the year than tourists from Germany, who usually stay in the lead in statistics,» adds RTAB chairperson Vita Jermolovica. 130 tourist accommodation establishments worked in Riga in the first three months of 2017. A total of 15,643 bedrooms were available to tourists.
