Four teachers in Latvia are paid wages that exceed EUR 2,000

In September 2016, the biggest teacher’s salary paid in Latvia with bonuses was EUR 2,260.27, as LETA was informed by Education and Science Ministry.

This wage is paid to a teacher in some school in Liepaja. This teacher clocked 63.773 hours in one week. Current requirements of the Cabinet of Ministers state that a teacher is allowed to work at a single employer without exceeding the work time stated in the Labour Law – 40 work hours.

A review of information compiled on salaries paid to primary, pre-school and general education facilities shows that four teachers were paid salaries that exceeded EUR 2,000 in September. This includes the aforementioned teacher in Liepaja, two teachers in Riga and one in Tukums. Each of them had clocked more hours than average full-time work load allows.

Recipient of the second largest salary is the teacher in Riga, who was paid EUR 2,193.2 for 77.405 work hours clocked in the same school year.

The recipient of the third largest salary in Latvia is the second teacher from Riga, who was paid EUR 2,001.13 for 59.75 clocked work hours.

According to information from the ministry, pay rates of those teachers in education facilities range from EUR 875 to EUR 1,000.
