Ukraine has shown interest in Latvia's experience in several areas

Foreign Ministry press secretary Karlis Eihenbaums admitted today that Ukraine has shown interest in Latvia's experience in several areas.

He pointed out that Latvia is prepared to offer support to Ukraine and share its reform experience and expertise in various areas, including regional and security reforms, fight against corruption, overcoming the economic crisis, as well as reforms in food and veterinary standards. At the same time, Latvia is ready to share its experience in promoting social dialogue, as well as explaining to the public the benefits the signing of a Association Agreement with the European Union would have.

As Eihenbaums explained, Latvia has already supported Ukraine by allowing ten Ukrainians, injured during the violent demonstrations in the country, to receive medical treatment in Latvia. Latvia has also sent two shipments of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, and is prepared to send more if necessary.

At the same time, Latvia has also been an active participant in the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe's (OSCE) monitoring mission in Ukraine. At the moment, five experts from Latvia are participating in the observer mission.
