Polish national dies as helicopter crashes in LatviaDuring Rally Liepāja in Western Latvia a helicopter has crashed killing one person and injuring three others. The crash took place on Sunday, October 8, in Gramzda parish and according to the Polish news portal Echodnia.eu, the dead victim is Paweł Jagniątkowski, long-time head of Kielce racing circuit in Poland and a friend of Polish rally driver Kajetan Kajetanowicz, who took part in the Rally Liepāja. Two of the three injured persons have suffered severe injuries. Head of the Latvian Civil Aviation Agency, Māris Gorodcovs, stated that the 2006-made Robinson R44 helicopter had hit an electric line with four people, two Latvians and two Polish nationals, on board. The helicopter was owned by the firm Baltijas helikopters, which offered rally fans flights during the event. The firm has not yet issued a statement on the crash.
