Harmony and Unity share the status of the largest Saeima factions

From now on Harmony’s Saeima faction will have 23 parliamentarians instead of 24. This is because Romans Miloslavskis will work as a non-faction deputy.

Until now Harmony was the largest parliamentary faction with 24 members. Valerijs Agesins was elected to Liepaja City Council at the recent municipal elections. Because of that, he had to leave the Saeima. Agesins will be replaced by Miloslavskis, who was excluded from Harmony. He will work as a non-faction deputy.

It is currently hard to say if Harmony has any plans to cooperate with Milslavskis, said Saeima faction’s vice-chairman Sergejs Potapkins. He does not exclude the possibility of finding a way to coordinate political positions, because the politician hopes Miloslavskis still represents socio-democratic principles.

With that, Harmony and Unity have an equal number of members – 23 each.

The next largest faction is the Union of Greens and Farmers, which has 21 deputies. The National Alliance is represented by 16 deputies and Latvian Association of Regions and To Latvia from the Heart – seven deputies each.

Saeima also has three non-faction deputies – Miloslavskis, Artuss Kaimins and Ilmars Latkovskis.

Baryshnikov to be given Latvian citizenship for contribution to Latvia’s culture
