Liepaja Airport certified for year-round flightsA confirmation was received from the Civil Aviation Agency on the approval of the certificate for Liepaja Airport and changes to the rules and regulations for the use of the airfield. From now on, the airport can perform year-round flights. Uldis Sesks, chairman of Liepaja City Council, says Liepaja can now become more competitive and improve its positions not only in Kurzeme, but also the Baltic region. «Until now Latvia was a rare European country with only one international airport. The fact that flights are available all year round is important for Liapaja’s and Latvia’s aviation industry,» Sesks says. As noted by the manager of Airline Liepaja Agris Sprude, the airport is steadily preparing for winter commercial flights by performing the necessary procedures and technical solutions.
