Several hundred supporters join «PAR!» movement in a single week

In the first week since the initial foundation, «PAR!» political movement has gained a lot of interest from Latvian residents, who want to join the political party.

While the «PAR!» manifest was signed by 50 people, the number of supporters has since grown to 450, according to the party’s representatives.
 

65% of them are prepared to participate in the foundation of the political party. Preparing for the party’s congress, the team is prepared to talk to any interested person. This individual approach helps provide a major contribution to the development of the political movement – experience and knowledge is gained as a result and people are prepared to share opinions, advice and perform voluntary work.
 

«After looking at information about «PAR!» supporters, we have concluded that there are many businessmen, IT specialists, lawyers, programmers, doctors, teachers and students. There are many interested people from Riga, Jelgava, Jurmala, Liepaja, Valmiera, Cesis, Ogre and the rest of Latvia. 97% of supporters in politics are newcomers,» says «PAR!» representative Daniels Pavluts.
 

One of the party’s founders, businessman Martins Stakis says: «This is an opportunity for every Latvian resident to express their opinion and participate in the country’s political life. History has proven that a new political force can be the only option for young newcomers to enter politics.»
 

He continues: «Old parties support young politicians only in words, because candidate lists always put well-known politicians ahead of everyone else. The reason for that is purely pragmatic – people vote for popular names. This is why newcomers are treated as filler.»
 

Meanwhile, «PAR!» is preparing for the party’s foundation congress, which is scheduled for 26 August.
