Latvian State Police asked to check Bondars’ rushed marriage contract

Riga City Council deputy Aleksejs Roslikovs has submitted a request to State Police, asking authorities to check if there are signs of a criminal act in the marriage contract of former Governor of Latvijas Krajbanka and now Riga City Council deputy Martins Bondars.

As it is known, the ruling of Riga City Vidzeme District Court states that compensation for losses worth more than EUR 15 million from seven former board members of Latvijas Krajbanka, including Martins Bondars.
 

On 26 July, Bondars and his wife registered a marriage contract in the Register of Property Relations of Spouses. This contract states that Bondars real estate property – a house in Marupe – is now considered his wife’s property.
 

Section 115 of the Civil Law of the Republic of Latvia states «for marriage contracts to have binding effect as against third parties, they shall be registered in the Spousal Property Relations Register and in respect of immovable property, also in the Land Register».
 

Aleksejs Roslikovs wants State Police to determine whether or not there are any signs of the document being forged, which would mean an attempt to avoid enforcement of compensation.
