To evaluate certain parts of the scandalous conversations in Ridzene Hotel, the parliamentary investigative committee plans to invite Aivars Lembergs, Airnars Slesers and Janis Duklavs for an interview, says committee chairperson Inguna Sudraba.

The first meeting of the committee is scheduled for 8 August, when it is planned to discuss the current process associated with Oligarch talks with representatives of the prosecutor general’s office and KNAB. The committee will also discuss certain episodes that require special attention in the investigation process.

When asked how she would respond to concerns that the investigation of the committee may not be objective, Sudraba said only people who are set to be investigated express such concerns. The deputy says many officials had access to materials of those talks for years. The question now is why those officials have not assisted with the investigation until now.

Deputy Andrejs Judins mentioned on Facebook that he had proposed to start reviewing the matter of immediate important at the first meeting, specifically Agriculture Minister Janis Duklavs’s possible ownership of land on the territory of Riga Freeport.

«Review of this matter does not require complex preparation or in-depth analysis of materials of the criminal process. By compiling information available in the public space, I have prepared and have sent a list of names to the chairperson to invite those people for an interview to find out more,» Judins said.
