LAR, NCP, NA and Unity have no plans for cooperating with Harmony/HSR

Political parties election to Riga City Council – Latvian Association of Region/ For Latvia’s Development, New Conservative Party, National Alliance and Unity – deny the possibility of cooperating with Harmony/Honour to Serve Riga in the capital.

LAR/FLD representatives say they definitely would not cooperate with Harmony and HSR. LAR leader Martins Bondars says «we were the ones who raised the flag to replace the ruling power at Riga City Council. We declared this loud and clear». LAR/FLD see no reason to cooperate with a political power they proposed changing, said the politician.

When asked about cooperation with the New Conservative Party, National Alliance and Unity, Bondars said his party would cooperate with them to replace the current management of Riga City Council. He said there us a number of matters in which LAR/FLD would not do what other parties want.

The New Conservative Party also does not see any opportunities to cooperate with Harmony or Honour to Serve Riga. The party would consider cooperating with deputies who oppose corruptive activities and unreasonable use of resources, said NCP leader Janis Bordans. This applies to coalition and opposition parties.

NA list’s leader Baiba Broka, when asked about working with Harmony and HSR, said her party remains true to its beliefs – NA will not cooperate with Harmony and HSR and sees no reasons to consider changing its opinion in the future. «We are prepared to work with all other Latvian parties that are unified in their opinion of Latvia’s integrity and values detailed in the Constitution,» said Broka.

Unity leader Andris Piebalgs said his represented party has no plans to cooperate with Harmony and Honour to Serve Riga at Riga City Council.

Riga Mayor Nils Usakovs mentioned in an interview to LTV that the matter regarding cooperation with the opposition should not be addressed to him, as prior to elections all of the aforementioned parties signed an agreement that they will not cooperate with his party and HSR.

Usakovs said those parties have to make a decision in which way they would be ready to «come to us and offer their vision for cooperation. Then we’ll meet».
