"Ecolines" Riga-Moscow bus collides with another bus in Russia; nine people killed

According to the RIA Novosti news agency, nine people were killed in the accident. More than 20 were injured. 19 of them were taken to local hospitals.

Among those killed, four people from "Ecolines" Riga-Moscow bus, "Ecolines" representative Maija Prozorovica informed LETA.

The accident happened on the 519th kilometer of the Moscow-Riga highway, when two buses - "Man" from Riga and "Hyundai" from Moscow collided 30 kilometers away from the village of Pustoshka. "Man" was carrying 47 passengers and three crew members at the time, "Hyundai" - 45 passengers and two crew members.

20 000 Euro Prize Money Paid out to Artists

On 6 July, awards ceremony and opening of the juried exhibition “Martinsons Award” marked the end of the 2nd Latvia International Ceramics Biennale. The biennale was part of the Latvian centenary programme and was organised with a view to developing contemporary ceramics as a discipline, promoting cooperation among the Baltic states and commemorating the artistic legacy of Pēteris Martinsons, who is widely considered the father of Latvian contemporary ceramics.
