Theater performances, live music and sporting events to dominate Riga City Festival

RIGA, Aug 1- This month, August 16-18, a lengthy list of events, dominated by theater, music, sports and recreation, will make up the annual Riga City Festival, as today's press conference informed.

The festival's main locations will be the 11.novembra krastmala riverside drive, Vermanes Garden Park and the newly-renovated and reopened Spikeri Quarter-Daugava Promenade.
Among the events of particular note are the "Bi-2" concert with the National Symphony Orchestra August 16 in "Arena Riga", the international antique automobile parade "Riga Retro 2013" riverside on August 17; the same day, also riverside, choreographer Lita Beiris' new dance production "Heart Strings" ("Dveseles stigas") with music by Raimonds Pauls, and the French street theater troupe "Transe Express".

On August 18, the events will be highlighted by the world-famous musical comedy-cabaret string quartet "MozARTGroup" from Poland.

These are just a handful of the many imaginative and attractive events organizers have scheduled.

Capping the festival, as is tradition, will be a spectacular fireworks display above the river near the Akmens Bridge.
