Rigas Ritmi to jazz the capital this week

The sixteenth Rigas Ritmi (the Rhythms of Rīga) festival starts Wednesday, bringing top-name performers like Grammy-winning Dianne Reeves, Justin Kauflin, and James Morrison in what is one of the main annual events in Latvia's musical life, LSM reports.

According to organizer Māris Briežkalns, himself an accomplished percussionist, there'll be more than 20 performances within four days during the festival.

The festival will kick off on Wednesday with a performance by American sax player Derek Brown, the Dutch band The Brag Pack and the afro-jazz trio Cissokho-Bronnimann-Hason at the Origo Summer Stage by Rīga's Central Station. Don't miss the presentation of the Mare Balticum CD on Sunday following Justin Kauflin's performance.
