Dobeles dzirnavnieks’ export turnover grows by nearly 20 million

Dobeles dzirnavnieks, one of the largest Baltic grain processing companies, reached turnover of EUR 98 million in 2015. This means an increase of 27% in comparison with 2014. The company’s last year’s investments range within EUR 10 million. This money was invested in the new oatmeal and muesli production plant and construction of an elevator and grain tower.

«Turnover increase is mainly related to the increase in realization of flour and pasta (by EUR 14 million) in comparison with 2014. It was accomplished thanks to active participation on the local market and thanks to the increase of export volumes, which has been one of the company’s primary goals for a long time. Export turnover grew by nearly EUR 20 million, reaching EUR 60 million last year. We export goods to more than 40 countries. This proves our company’s competitiveness on the domestic and international markets,» – says the company’s board chairman Kristaps Amsils.

The company hopes to retain the turnover increase trend. This is why the company strategically invests in new production lines and looks for new realization markets. For example, following the global trend, the company plans to engage in the production of eco products.

The company’s investments have reached EUR 55 million since 2010. Since then the company has realized projects associated with pasta production plant, spaghetti production plant, durum wheat mill construction and the aforementioned oatmeal and muesli production plant. An important goal has been achieved – by investing money in the modernization of grain intake and storage systems, the company managed to optimize resources and increase capacity. Now the company plans to receive a record-large volume of grain – more than 250 thousand tons.
