Over 40,000 to participate in XXV Song and Dance Festival

The XXV Nationwide Song and XV Dance Festival, which will take place in Riga from June 30 to July 7, will gather over 40,000 participants, the director of the Latvian National Culture Center Dace Melbarde said during a special press conference today.

There will be a total of 62 concerts and events planned during the Song and Dance Festival. Melbarde said that the events could attract over 400,000 spectators.

Tickets will go on sale on April 6 at all ''Bilesu Paradize'' ticket outlets from 11:00 a.m. Most ''Bilesu Paradize'' ticket outlets work until 7:00 p.m., but those outlets located in shopping malls will work until 9:00 p.m.

One persons will be able to purchase eight tickets at a time.

Melbarde explained that ticket revenue is expected at around LVL 270,000, which will all be put back into the organization of the festival.

During today's press conference, Melbarde said that the organization of the Song and Dance Festival is a long and grueling process, which is in its final stage at the moment. ''This Song and Dance Festival will become a bridge towards Latvia's 100th anniversary,'' Melbarde said.

As reported, tickets to this summer's XXV Latvian Song and Dance Festival will cost from LVL 1 to 30, according to the festival's organizers.
