Riga Tourism Centre: 20% of all visitors on holidays were Russians

The majority of those tourists came from Russia. According to head of Riga tourism information centres Zane Kursite, statistics show that the total number of visitors has increased by nearly one-fifth. «Similar to other years, the number of tourists from Russia usually rapidly increases shortly after Christmas. According to estimates, Russian tourists form 20% of all visitors. On 29 December we also noted a major increase of interest from Taizé Community,» – she said. Most often foreign guests requested information about excursions around the city, popular landmarks, events and concerts. The highest activity was recorded in tourism information centre at Town Hall Square – it was visited by 73% of all guests to the capital. Other popular information centres include those on Kalku Street and Riga International Bus Station. Information about Riga’s tourist destinations and noteworthy events is provided at Town Hall Square, Liv Square and Riga International Bus Station. All centres offer consultations and information materials. The information centre at Town Hall Square also offers other service.
