Riga airport to welcome summer season with new airlines and destinations

SAS airline is set to return to Latvia this Sunday, March 29th. Ukraine International Airlines and Swiss International Air Lines will also begin working at Riga International Airport this year. Latvian national airBaltic airline will make passengers happy with multiple new destinations to explore.

Star Alliance member SAS will begin servicing flights from Stockholm to Riga on March 29th. The airline will be carrying out 18 flights per week, as reported by Riga International Airport.

The first flight from Kyiv to Riga will take place March 29th. From there on, Ukraine International Airlines will be carrying out seven flights per week. Swiss International Air Lines (also a member of Star Alliance) will begin servicing flights from Zurich to Riga on Marc 31st.

AirBaltic plans to introduce five new destinations this summer season – Aalborg, Dubrovnik, Rhodes, Thessaloniki and Pisa.

As it is known, Wizz Air plans to expand its base in Riga. The airline plans to set up a second aircraft and open up three new destinations – Stavanger, Lübeck and Liverpool.

In total, the summer season in Riga will provide passengers an opportunity to travel to 87 destinations provided by 21 air carriers – airBaltic, Aeroflot, Belavia, Brussels Airlines, Ellinair, Finnair, LOT, Lufthansa, Nesma Airlines, Norwegian, Uzbekistan Airways, Ryanair, Transaero, Turkish Airlines, Turkmenistan Airlines, Ukraine International Airlines, Onur Air, SAS, Swiss International Air Lines, Wizz Air and Smartlynx.

Riga International Airport reminds that March 29th marks the transition to summer time: all clocks will be switched one hour forward. With that, passengers are urged to keep this in mind when planning their travel arrangements.
