''Ventspils'' drops out of FIBA Eurochallenge

 MEDIAS (Romania), Feb 27 - On Tuesday, Latvian basketball club ''Ventspils'' surprisingly lost to Romanian basketball club ''Gaz Metan Medias'' 58:67 in the final group match of this season's FIBA Eurochallenge tournament.

With the loss, ''Ventspils'' finished in last place in Group I with two wins and four losses and did not advance to the tournament's quarterfinals.

The highest scorer for ''Ventspils'' was Martins Meiers with 14 points, followed by Donald Sims with 12 points. On the other hand, Kyle Shiloh was the highest scorer for the Romanian club with 13 points.

Turkish basketball club Karsiyaka ''Pinar'' and Finnish basketball club Joensuun ''Kataja'' finished in first and second place respectively in Group I to advance to the Eurochallenge tournament's quarterfinals.

As reported, ''Ventspils'' finished in first place in its group in the tournament's first group stage to advance to the ''Top 16''.

Last season, ''Ventspils'' lost in the quarterfinals of the Eurochallenge tournament to Hungarian basketball club Szolnaki ''Olaj KK''.
