Melbardis' four-man bob triumphs in Sochi

 SOCHI (Russia), Feb 17 - Oskars Melbardis' four-man bob triumphed in the ninth and last stage of Bobsleigh World Cup in Russia's Sochi today.

Today Melbardis, Daumants Dreiskens, Intars Dambis and Arvis Vilkaste were third after the first run and first in the second, finishing in first place on aggregate.

This is Melbardis' first gold medal as a bobsleigh pilot.

The other Latvian bob, piloted by Oskars Kibermanis, finished in 12th place today.

In World Cup standings, Alexander Zubkov's (Russia) team ended up first with 1727 points, whereas Melbardis finished in second place with 1625 points.

Kibermanis' bobsleigh team placed 25th in the overall standings with a total of 384 points, and Ugis Zalims placed 29th.
