''Ventspils'' crush ''Gaz Metan Medias'' in FIBA Eurochallenge

 VENTSPILS, Jan 30 - On Tuesday, Latvian basketball club ''Ventspils'' get its first win in the second group stage of this season's FIBA Eurochallenge tournament, defeating Romanian basketball club ''Gaz Metan Medias'' 96:64.

Martins Meiers and Folarin Campbell scored 14 points a piece for ''Ventspils'', with Sandis Valters adding 13 points. Kyle Shiloh was the highest scorer for the Romanian club with 14 points.

With the win, ''Ventspils'' is now in a three-way tie for second place with one win and two losses in the second group stage.
The Latvian club will play its next Group I match on February 12 at home against Finnish basketball club Joensuun ''Kataja''.

As reported, ''Ventspils'' finished in first place in its group in the tournament's first group stage to advance to the ''Top 16''.

The ''Top 16'' is made up of four groups of four. Each team in each of the groups will play each other twice - once at home and once on the road. The two best team in each of the four groups will qualify for the tournament's quarterfinals.

Last season, ''Ventspils'' lost in the quarterfinals of the Eurochallenge tournament to Hungarian basketball club Szolnaki ''Olaj KK''.
