Silovs takes bronze at World Sprint Speed Skating

 SALT LAKE CITY (United States), Jan 28 - Latvia's speed skater Haralds Silovs took home bronze in World Sprint Speed Skating on Sunday.

Silovs finished the 1000-meter distance in one minute 7.72 seconds, 0.22 seconds behind the winner, Hein Otterspeer of the Netherlands and 0.07 seconds to second-place finisher, Michel Mulder (Netherlands).

On Saturday, Silovs had clocked one minute 7.47 seconds, taking silver and bettering the national record of Latvia by 0.4 seconds.

In the second 500-meter race on Sunday, Silovs finished 26th with a result of 35.32 seconds (improving the national record by 0.23 seconds). On Saturday, Silovs was 30th in the 500-meter race.
