''VEF Riga'' stay alive in ULEB Eurocup

 RIGA, Dec 5 - On Tuesday, Latvian basketball club ''VEF Riga'' stayed alive in this season's ULEB Eurocup tournament with a 83:72 win over German basketball club Artland ''Dragons''.

In order to advance to the tournament's second group stage, ''VEF Riga'' will need to win its final group game next week.

Kristaps Janicenoks was the highest scorer for the Latvian club with 19 points, followed by Earl Rowland with 12 points.

Demond Mallet was the highest scorer for ''Dragons'' with 15 points.

''VEF Riga'' will play its final ULEB Eurocup group match on December 12 at French basketball club Le Mans ''Sarthe''.

As reported, ''VEF Riga'' opened the new Eurocup season with a 82:72 victory over Artland ''Dragons'', but then suffered three losses in a row. The club currently has two wins and three losses in Group C and remains in third place.

This season's ULEB Eurocup is made up of 32 teams divided into eight groups of four.

Each team in each of the groups will play each other twice - once at home and once on the road. The top two teams in each of the groups will advance to the tournament's final 16.

''VEF Riga'' qualified for the tournament's final 16 last season.
