Latvia hits 17 three-pointers to take down Britain at EuroBasket 2017

Latvian national basketball team defeated Great Britain 97:92 (25:20, 25:20, 34:18, 13:34) in a "run and gun" Group D game at the European Basketball Championship in Istanbul today.

The Latvians were leading by as much as 29 points in the third quarter, but in the closing minutes of the match Great Britain drew within five points. During the back and forth action, both teams attempted a lot of three-point shots, with Latvians hitting 17 out of 34 three-pointers. Davis Bertans was deadly from beyond the ark, hitting seven out of eight three-point shots to set a new record for Latvia at European championships.

Latvia's next game will be against Russia tomorrow at 2:15. The last group match will be against Turkey on Thursday.'

Kristaps Porzingis scored 28 points and pulled down eight rebounds today. Davis Bertans had 22 points, while Janis Strelnieks scored 13 points and made nine assists.

As reported, Latvia was defeated by Serbia 82:92 in the opening EuroBasket 2017 game, then convincingly beat Belgium 92:64 in their second Group D match.
