Latvia's tennis star Elena Ostapenko defeated Elina Svitolina (Ukraine) 6-3, 7-6 (8:6) in a fourth-round match at the Wimbledon Championships today to advance to the tournament's quarterfinals.

After winning the first set 6-3, Ostapenko went on to take a 5-2 lead in the second, looking well on course to win the match. However, Ostapenko then lost five match points, and the gritty Svitolina took the set into a tie-break where Ostapenko prevailed by 8:6

Therefore Ostapenko has won already eleven Grand Slam matches in a row. In addition, for the second time in her career Ostapenko has defeated a top-five player. The first was when Ostapenko beat Romania's Simona Halep in the final match at the French Open.

In the quarterfinals on Tuesday, Ostapenko will play either the tenth-seeded Venus Williams (USA).
