Part of "Latvenergo" corruption case submitted to Riga Vidzeme District Court

 RIGA, Nov 12 - A prosecutor from the Prosecutor General's Office has submitted a part of the "Latvenergo" corruption case to the Riga Vidzeme District Court, pressing charges against three leading state officials, LETA was informed by Prosecutor General's Office public relations specialist Aiga Senberga.
One official has been charged pursuant to the Criminal Law's Section 219, Part 2 - providing false information in a personal income declaration. The other two have been charged in accordance with the Criminal Law's Section 326, Part 1 - unlawfully participating in property transactions and also providing false information in a personal income declaration.
According to unofficial information obtained by LETA, these officials are - former "Latvenergo" VP Aigars Melko, former "Sadales tikls" board chairman Ivars Liuziniks and his former deputy, Andrejs Stalazs.
As reported, eight people, including five "Latvenergo" officials, were arrested in June 2010 on suspicion of bribery, abuse of power and money laundering.
