Berzins to meet with EU's highest officials in Brussels

 RIGA, Nov 12 - Today, President Andris Berzins will go on a two-day working visit to Brussels to meet with the European Union's highest officials.
On the first day of his visit, Berzins will meet with European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs Olli Rehn, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and European Commissioner for Development Andris Piebalgs.
Tomorrow, Berzins will meet with Latvian members of the European Parliament, European Parliament President Martin Schulz and Latvian ambassadors residing in Brussels.
At the conclusion of his visit, Berzins will meet with European Council President Herman Van Rompuy
Berzins will emphasize that the EU multi-annual budget is a key instrument for fostering the bloc's growth, emphasizing at the same time that the Baltic countries still insist that the direct payments to Baltic farmers must be at least at 80 percent of the EU average level.
