RIGA, Dec 20 - Today, MPs forwarded the Reform Party's amendments to the Law on Holidays and Remembrance Days and the Labor Law to Saeima committees for review.
The amendments to the Law on Holidays and Remembrance Days stipulate that employees will be able to agree with their employers on one day a year when they could celebrate their religious holidays.
The amendments also envisage including in the law such religious holidays as the Epiphany (January 6), Orthodox Christmas (January 7), the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (August 15), Yom Kippur and the Reformation Day (October 31).
The amendments to the Labor Law state that employees will be able to choose one of the said religious holidays as a day off.
As reported, previously, ruling coalition partners did not support the Reform Party's initiative on religious holidays.
