Prime minister candidate Aldis Gobzems from KPV LV has offered giving the most seats in ministries to members of the New Conservative Party. In exchange, the party is asked to put aside its red line in relation to cooperation with Union of Greens and Farmers in the new government.

Information regarding Gobzems’ position was confirmed in a telephone conversation by KPV LV board member Linda Liepiņa, who said more detailed comments should be asked from Gobzems personally.

KPV LV wants three seats in the government – prime minister’s post for Gobzems, finance minister’s post for Roberts Spručs and interior affairs minister’s post for Ralfs Nemiro.

NCP is offered four seats: transport minister’s post for Tālis Linkaits, healthcare minister’s post for Juris Jurašs, education minister’s post for Dagmāra Beitnere-Le Galla and justice minister’s post for Jānis Bordāns or Juta Strīķe.

The National Alliance ‘All for Latvia’ – ‘For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK’ is offered three posts: environment protection minister’s post for Raivis Dzintars or Rihards Kols, welfare minister’s post for Imants Parādnieks and culture minister’s post for Dace Melbārde.

UGF and New Unity are offered two seats each in the government: agriculture minister’s seat may go to Edgars Tavars or Armands Krauze and defence minister’s post may go to Raimonds Bergmanis. Economy minister and foreign affairs minister post may got to New Unity representatives Jānis Reirs and Edgars Rinkēvičs.

KPV LV also wants to replace the heads of Saeima’s Budget and Finance Committee, appointing KPV LV member Atis Zakatistovs as its head instead of Attīstībai/Par! member Mārtiņš Bondars.

KPV LV also wants to exclude AP’s representative Marija Golubeva from Saeima Praesidium and replacing her with Artuss Kaimiņš. Inese Lībiņa-Egnere from New Unity is proposed to be given the seat of Saeima deputy secretary.

As Gobzems told journalists after another government formation discussion, which was not attended by members of AP, five parties participating in government formation were interviewed today. He said «an open offer was proposed for the composition of the future Cabinet of Ministers».

Gobzems intends to discuss the offered composition of the new government with all parties taking part in talks.

This morning KPV LV prime minister candidate Aldis Gobzems has decided to terminate talks on government formation with Attīstībai/Par political party.

«With this announcement I hereby exclude Attīstībai/Par, which is infected with a government overturning virus, from further government formation talks. This virus has such high virulence that it seems to have become the new policy this party promised to voters,» as mentioned in Gobzems’ statement posted on Facebook.com.

The prime minister candidate says from the very beginning AP «had a desire to play a game organized by Edgars Jaunups and its sponsors».

«Not a single constructive proposal, lies in front of cameras, cowardly smiles, lack of courage to talk face to face, and late evening backstage offers with attempts forming […] government with Krišjānis Kariņš (NU) at the helm and attempts to buy votes from other parties,» Gobzems continues criticizing AP. «I hope other parties will not accept these dirty tricks and play to Jaunups’ tune, accepting the deputy purchase scenario lest from the previous policy,» Gobzems’ statement on Facebook states.

AP, on the other hand, criticizes Gobzems for his ties with ex-politician Ainārs Šlesers and plans to allow Harmony to the Saeima through the back door. As LETA was told by the party’s representative Laila Spaliņa, prime minister candidate Gobzems fears AP will run his plans to allow Harmony to join the government. She also added that her party categorically opposes his plans to limit media freedom and increase secrecy in government meetings.
