The restored Laima Clock will be a gift to the country for its centenary from Orkla Confectionery & Snacks. The origin of Laima clock is found as far back as 1924, when the central clock was installed in Riga. Initially, this clock was known as the Big Clock. In 1936, it was given the name Laima Clock. The last time it was reconstructed was 1999. The new style for the clock was designed by Arvis Sproģis. «Laima Clock has served as a favourite meeting spot for years. It is particularly special for Latvian residents and foreign guests. This is why we offer a special gift for Latvia – a beautiful and restored clock in its very heart. It will not only continue showing accurate time, but also play a melody composed by Raimonds Pauls every hour and count down to 18 November 2018,» says Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Latvia public relations and communications manager Lineta Mikša. The festive opening of the new clock will be open for all at 11:30 on 29 December 2018.
