RIGA, Nov 15 - On Saturday, November 17, from noon to 1:00 p.m., a special elephant parade will take place around Riga Circus, LETA was informed by the Riga City Council.
The elephants will begin their parade on Alfreda Kalnina Street onto Marijas Street, Merkela Street and Krisjana Barona Street, before returning back to Alfreda Kalnina Street.
At the moment, five Indian elephants have been transported to Riga to perform in several circus performances.
According to popular circus traditions, elephants are taken out on such parades to become acquainted with the area where they are performing.
Furthermore, elephants are highly intelligent animals with an excellent memory and a good feeling of their surroundings.
Already this week, the Riga Circus will begin a new show program called ''Gigantic Indian Elephants'', LETA was informed by the circus' spokeswoman Agita Pudule.
All the elephants brought to Riga are female.
