Major exhibit in Moscow – “Riga Porcelain Artwork. 1925-1940”

Romāns Suta. "Wedding"
On display through December 12th at the Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art, over 200 examples of the exquisite decorative, dinnerware and industrial porcelain designed and manufactured in Riga between both wars.
This major exhibition, a joint project by the Latvian National Museum of Art (LNMA), Riga Porcelain Museum (RPM), the Pēteris Avens Foundation "Paaudze" and a number of private collectors, provides a comprehensive expose of the development of this form of art and design in Latvia in the 1920s and 30s.
This is the first time that Riga porcelain is displayed in a large format show outside Latvia. LNMA has contributed 100 pieces, RPM – 31, but private collections – 81, particularly singling out the legacy of the famous “Baltars” workshop (included on the Latvia’s Cultural Canon list).
