President wishes for new concert hall in Cesis to "always be busy"

The Vidzeme Concert Hall "Cesis"
The grand opening of a regional concert hall is a cause for rejoicing anywhere, and the city of Cesis was no exception last night as the Vidzeme Concert Hall "Cesis" held its inaugural ceremony-concert.

First among the dignitaries on hand to congratulate all concerned was President Andris Berzins who stated what probably everyone wishes: "for the concert hall to be as busy as possible and at fullest capacity - so that people from near and far are drawn to enjoy marvelous moments and events, that are unforgettable."

The president lauded the fact that "now Latvia is one concert hall richer," that "Cesis is adorned with a new gem - a modern concert hall; but - all gems must glisten, and be worn majestically."

Mentioning another recently-opened "gem" - the regional concert hall in Rezekne, Berzins pointed out that like Rezekne, now Cesis must "learn to introduce itself to all of Latvia, and to foreign tourists. Concert hall "Cesis" must become a place where people would like to return again and again."

The president sees the new venue [actually the former community center in the center of the city] as a new "source of inspiration and a "shot in the arm" to Cesis' development."

Total expenses for the project titled: "Multi-functional center 'Vidzeme music and arts center' were EUR 13,218,293, of which EUR 10,439,620 came from the European Regional Development Fund.
