Tug of war between both sides of the Daugava to be held again

For the third year in row, a feature attraction of the May 4th Independence Day festivities in Riga will be the tug of war between people living on the left and right banks of the Daugava River.

The Riga City Council is inviting one and all to take part by registering at www.riga.lv, in order to "shoulder to shoulder with your fellow Rigans experience the joint adventure of sports and a feeling of unity."

A 400 meter long rope will be used, and it will span one of the bridges.

In 2012, when Vansu Bridge was used, the right bank won, but last year - the left bank's citizens emerged victorious.
