Sarah Brightman to perform live in Riga next February

Soprano Sarah Brightman will be live in concert at "Arena Riga" on February 20 next year, Maija Tomkalne, a representative of the organizers of the concert, said.

Brightman will visit Riga as part of the tour promoting her latest album, "Dreamchaser". She will be accompanied by band and dancers, and the performance will be set against the backdrop of a giant LED screen.

Brightman's name is synonymous with the synthesis of classical and popular music named "Classical Crossover" that she created 26 years ago and continues to develop. She began her career as the star of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Cats" and "The Phantom of the Opera", she started her highly successful solo career in the late 1980s.

Brightman has released eleven solo albums and four compilations, which have sold more than 30 million copies in total. Brightman's records have been awarded with 180 Gold and Platinum discs in more than forty countries. Her duet with Andrea Bocelli "Time To Say Goodbye" is included in the Guinness Book of Records as the all-time best-selling single in Germany. U.S. Recording Industry Association has recognized Brightman as the all-time most successful academic performer.

Brightman has received countless awards and nominations, including Grammy, Echo and Golden Lion awards.

Last October, Brightman made a surprise statement that she had been medically recognized as suitable for a flight in outer space. She is planning on going to the International Space Station in 2015, becoming the first singer and delegate of all the entertainment industry to visit outer space.

Critics have praised the album as the strongest proof of Brightman's success. For example, Stephen Unwin of "The Daily Express" wrote that the album is "an almost surreal, often heartbreaking record that is stirringly epic". Similarly "The Sun" (United Kingdom) in a 5-star review described the album as "much more original and involving than standard popera fare". "Polari Magazine" in another 5-star review described the album as "stunning" and continued that "instead of playing it safe and releasing yet another Mother's Day Opera-By-Numbers album like most classical singers, Sarah's general lunacy helps her to take risks most artists in her genre wouldn't take".

The "Dreamchaser" tour has unfolded as Brightman's most ambitious series of concerts since the tour of album "Harem" in 2004. She has done 67 concerts in the United States alone, most of them sold out unbelievably fast.

Brightman has visited Latvia once - in 2004.

Presale starts today in all "BilesuServiss" box offices and at "www.bilesuserviss.lv" website.
