No agreement between Estonia and Finland on location of LNG terminal

TALLINN, March 28 - Estonian and Finnish officials did not reach an agreement on the location of a regional liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at negotiations held in Brussels earlier this week, Estonian Public Broadcasting reports.

Finland arguments that it wishes to construct the LNG terminal at Inkoo because gas consumption in Finland is several times higher than in Estonia, EPB cited the Finnish newspaper ''Helsingin Sanomat''.

The Inkoo terminal could cost up to EUR 450 million, the newspaper notes.

Estonian Economy and Communications Minister Juhan Parts says that it would be best to build the LNG terminal in Paldiski, North West Estonia. There it would be developed by the ''Alexela'' concern member ''Balti Gaas'', which evaluates the cost of the project at EUR 301 million.

The European Council is to make the decision about the location of the Baltic and Finnish joint regional LNG terminal in May.
